About Me

Hi! I'm Marcia Villalba, a developer educator and content creator passionate about cloud computing, serverless technologies, and AI agents.

A software engineer from Uruguay 🇺🇾, living in Helsinki 🇫🇮. With over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, I've explored nearly every aspect of software development. As one of the 1% of Hispanic women in computer science, I am a minority within minorities.

Today, I'm fully focused on Desplegando.cloud, the Spanish-speaking community I founded to teach AWS, Serverless, and AI agents through hands-on projects and structured study plans. I help developers go from tutorials to real, production-grade projects in the cloud.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a full-stack developer at Rovio (the creators of Angry Birds) and spent over seven years at AWS as a Principal Developer Advocate on the Serverless team, helping developers bring their ideas to life in the cloud while working closely with AWS service teams to improve the serverless services we all love.

I'm a mom of two girls and an avid reader. These experiences have greatly enhanced my ability as an instructor, as I'm constantly learning how people develop and how to better share knowledge. Coding and teaching are my true passions. I love discovering new technologies and experimenting with frameworks, which led me to create my YouTube channels. There, I publish videos focusing on AWS serverless technologies, AI agents, and managed services, in both English and Spanish.

I've also published numerous serverless and AI courses 📚 in both English 🇬🇧 and Spanish 🇪🇸 to make cloud education accessible to a wider audience.

I'm honored to be an AWS Serverless Hero, a Serverless Champion, and an organizer for the Finland AWS User Group. I was also one of the main organizers of Serverless Days Helsinki.

In addition, I currently teach at the university level, as a faculty member in the Master of Computer Science program at UPC, and I've also been a guest lecturer at UCU.
